Digital Design I + II

In Digital Design I, students are introduced to Adobe Photoshop and learn how to use its foundational tools to create digital art, travel posters, patterns, and logos. Students build on this foundation in Digital Design II by learning how to use more advanced tools and incorporate more concepts into their work. During my time teaching this class, I used my graphic design background to create a unit on Adobe Illustrator that included recorded tutorials on how to use paths to create designs, logos, and manipulate typography. While many of these students may not use digital design in their future careers, the hope is that they develop a sense of how design is part of many aspects of their life.

PHOTO I + II

In Photo I, students are introduced to both traditional film and darkroom photography as well as digital photography. The focus of this class is a delicate balancing act with emphasis on learning the basics in the first half of the semester and applying these basics to assignments in the second half of the semester. Students build on their knowledge and experience in Photo II and learn how to tell stories using their photography, use studio lighting, and refine their editing techniques.
